S'mores Bars

Another co-worker birthday meant I got to try out another dessert recipe. I have been eyeing this S'mores Bars recipe since it was posted on Annie's Eats and thought now would be the perfect time to give it a whirl.

S'mores Bars

Ingredients
3 Tablespoons unsalted butter, plus more for greasing pan
1 cup graham cracker crumbs.
3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 1/3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
pinch of salt
1 cup marshmallows
2 whole graham crackers

Directions
Line an 8 x 8-inch baking dish with aluminum foil.

Lightly butter the foil. Melt 3 Tablespoons butter in the microwave. Mix in graham cracker crumbs and stir with a fork until crumbs are evenly moistened. Pour crumb mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan and press firmly into an even layer.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the condensed milk and chocolate chips. Heat, stirring frequently, until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt. Pour the chocolate mixture over the graham cracker base. Working quickly, spread the chocolate into an even layer. Sprinkle the marshmallows over the chocolate and gently press down so that the marshmallows become partly embedded in the chocolate. Break the whole graham crackers into small pieces and stick into the chocolate amongst the marshmallows.

Cover and refrigerate until firm, about 4 hours. Use the foil to lift the bars out of the pan. Cut into squares using a sharp knife. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Amanda's Analysis:
Delicious! These were almost as good as s'mores themselves! I love the fudge-like chocolate, it makes the popular treat a little unique. I will make these again! I give them 6 spoons!

John's Jibba-Jabba:
When Amanda's co-workers have birthdays it is a bittersweet time for me. On one hand, Amanda makes delicious treats that I get to sample. On the other, Amanda only lets me have one small taste and the rest go out the door never to return. This was one dessert I was especially sad to see go. They tasted just as good as a real s'more, and you don't have to start a bonfire to make them. I give these treats 6 spoons and definitely want Amanda to make s'more.
