Taco Seasoning

One New Year's Eve I found out that my stomach's newly discovered hatred of tomato products included pre-made taco seasoning. Since then I haven't been able to make tacos at home, that is until I found this recipe. I was eager to try it out and I was not disappointed!

Taco Seasoning

Ingredients
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper

Directions
Mix all ingredients together and store in an air tight container.

To make taco meat
Brown 1 pound of ground beef. Add 2/3 cup water and 3 tablespoons of seasoning mix. Let simmer until liquid is gone.

Amanda's Analysis:
I can eat tacos again! This seasoning was great. It tastes very similar to the seasoning you can buy in grocery stores, but with the added bonus of being able to adjust the amounts of each ingredient. It was a little spicy as-is, so if you don't like spicy things I would use less chili powder. I made a big batch of this and have it ready to go the next time I am craving some tacos! I may even play around with the amounts of certain ingredients to get it just the way I like it. I give this seasoning 6 spoons.

John's Jibba-Jabba:
I can eat tacos again! I enjoyed this seasoning. It is nice to have a recipe like this that is really simple and can be customized for anyone's individual palate. If we were to make it again I think it would be better with more garlic and chili powder for a little more kick. This seasoning gets 5 spoons.
